Best Protective Cases for iPhone Duo

Quick answer: AntiShockCase pick: the Spigen Tough Armor Pro (Mag Fit) at about $70, the only in-stock case here that states full hinge protection, and the TORRAS Ostand Q3 at about $80 if you want a built-in stand. The iPhone Duo itself goes on pre-order on 16 October and ships on 23 October, so check that your case will arrive in time.Picks are based on manufacturer specifications we checked, not hands-on testing. Apple announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, on 9 September 2026. It starts at $1,999 in the US, with pre-orders from Friday 16 October and availability from Friday 23 October in a first wave of countries that includes the US and the UK, followed by 28 more countries and regions from 30 October. Case makers have moved early. Several iPhone Duo cases can already be ordered, while others, including Apple’s own, are announced but not yet on sale. This guide covers only cases you can order now, and flags which ones will arrive after the phone does.

What makes an iPhone Duo case different

A foldable is two thin halves joined by a hinge, and that changes what a case has to do. Apple describes a precision hinge, a grade 5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. Open, the iPhone Duo is the thinnest iPhone Apple has made; closed, it is roughly twice as thick and much shorter than an iPhone 18 Pro.

StateHeightWidthDepth
iPhone Duo, open117.8 mm164.6 mm5.2 mm
iPhone Duo, closed117.8 mm84.1 mm11.3 mm

It weighs 254 g, with a 7.6-inch folding inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Sources: Apple’s iPhone Duo technical specifications and announcement.

Three things follow for a case. First, most iPhone Duo cases come in two parts, one for each half, so the phone can still fold. Second, the hinge is the most exposed part when the phone is closed, and a case either covers it or leaves it bare. Third, a hinge cover can get in the way of accessories: Spigen notes that some MagFit accessories may not fit its Tough Armor Pro because of the hinge cover. Apple rates the iPhone Duo IP68, but as our guide to IP67 and IP68 ratings explains, that covers water and dust rather than drops.

A note on fit before launch

Every case in this guide was designed before the iPhone Duo reached customers. Case makers can work from Apple’s published dimensions, but nobody outside Apple has fitted these cases to a shipping iPhone Duo yet, and neither have we. Once the phone ships on 23 October we will check the fit and update this guide. Until then, order from a retailer with an easy returns policy, and check the fit carefully when your phone arrives: both halves should close fully, the phone should fold without resistance, and the camera lenses should sit below the case lip.

The best iPhone Duo cases you can order now

Rugged, with hinge protection

Spigen Tough Armor Pro (Mag Fit) (~$70): the best iPhone Duo case to order today. It combines a polycarbonate and TPU build with Spigen’s Air Cushion drop protection, raised edges around the screen and camera, and a hinge cover that Spigen says gives full fold coverage. It supports MagSafe accessories, although Spigen warns that some MagFit accessories may not fit because of that hinge cover. The black version is in stock now; the Metal Slate version is a pre-order that ships in about 25 business days, which lands close to launch. Spigen does not publish a drop height for it. Check price

With a built-in stand

TORRAS Ostand Q3 VegSkin (~$80): the one to get for watching and video calls. Its built-in stand adjusts from 30 to 90 degrees upright and from 15 to 165 degrees on its side, which suits the Duo’s larger inner screen. It has a vegan-leather finish and N52 magnets rated at 18 N, and it is in stock in three colours. TORRAS rates it 8 ft drop-proof, but that is its own rating with no test method named, and it does not state hinge protection. Check price

Clear

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro (Mag Fit) (~$60): the clear option, but it arrives late. This clear polycarbonate case uses Air Cushion drop protection, locks its front and rear halves together, and adds raised edges with hinge coverage. It works with MagSafe chargers. The catch is timing: it is a pre-order that ships in about 45 business days, which puts delivery in mid to late November, weeks after the phone. Order it only if you have something else to use in the meantime. Check price

Premium materials

SANDMARC Pro Leather Case (~$60): leather, and ready for camera accessories. SANDMARC’s leather case supports MagSafe charging and connects securely to SANDMARC’s own lenses and filters, which is useful if you shoot a lot of video. It is in stock. SANDMARC does not state hinge protection or a drop rating for it. Check price

Benks ArmorGrid Air Grand Combo (~$110): Kevlar, without a hinge cover. Benks builds this case with Kevlar, and the Grand Combo adds a front frame case for full front-edge coverage. It is the most expensive pick here, and Benks states plainly that the combo does not include hinge protection. The product page makes no MagSafe claim. Check price

Announced, but not orderable yet

Apple iPhone Duo Case and iPhone Duo Folio. Apple’s iPhone Duo Case, in sand and navy blue, is a thin two-part case that wraps both halves of the phone. The iPhone Duo Folio, in taupe and navy blue, adds an integrated kickstand. Both work with MagSafe, Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers. Apple had not put either on sale when we checked.

OtterBox Defender Series Pro XT and Lumen Series. OtterBox lists the Defender Series Pro XT at $89.99, with a rugged hinge that moves with the phone, and the thinner Lumen Series at $69.99. Both show as coming soon.

CASETiFY. CASETiFY has an iPhone Duo page with a waitlist rather than cases you can buy. We will add these cases once they can be ordered and checked.

Which case suits how you use the iPhone Duo

Mostly closed, in a pocket. A slim two-part case matters more than a stand. The Spigen Tough Armor Pro adds hinge protection without much extra bulk.

Open on a desk or for video calls. A built-in stand is the feature that changes daily use. The TORRAS Ostand Q3 holds the phone at a wide range of angles, upright or on its side.

Shooting video. The SANDMARC Pro Leather Case works with SANDMARC’s own lenses and filters.

If you drop your phone often. Prioritise hinge coverage and raised edges. If you want a heavier rugged design, OtterBox’s Defender Series Pro XT is worth waiting for once it goes on sale.

How to choose an iPhone Duo case

Decide whether you want hinge protection. A covered hinge protects the most exposed part of the closed phone, but a hinge cover can stop some MagSafe accessories sitting flush.

Check the ship date, not just the price. Launch-week listings vary widely. One case here is in stock, while another will not arrive until about nine weeks from now.

Make sure the case still lets the phone fold. Two-part cases need to clear the fold completely and leave the outer display fully visible. Read the product photos closely before ordering.

Look for a drop height and a method. None of the cases you can order now names a test method for its drop protection. Our explainer on what a shockproof case actually is covers why that matters.

Confirm MagSafe support. Apple says the iPhone Duo works with MagSafe and Qi2 25W chargers, but not every Duo case passes the magnets through. Our MagSafe shockproof case guide explains what to look for.

Protect the inner screen separately. Cases cover the outside of the phone, not the folding inner display. If you want a screen protector for it, choose one made specifically for the iPhone Duo’s folding display.

Will an iPhone 18 Pro case fit the iPhone Duo?

No. The iPhone Duo is a different shape entirely: closed, it measures 84.1 × 117.8 mm, while the iPhone 18 Pro measures 71.9 × 150.0 mm. If you are choosing between the two phones, our guide to the best iPhone 18 Pro cases covers the other half of Apple’s range.

FAQ

Can I buy an iPhone Duo case before the phone launches?

Yes. Spigen, TORRAS, SANDMARC and Benks already sell iPhone Duo cases. Check the ship date before you order: some Spigen models ship in about 45 business days, which is after the phone arrives on 23 October.

Do I need a case with hinge protection?

The hinge is the most exposed part of a closed foldable, so hinge coverage is worth having if you drop your phone often. Of the cases you can order now, the Spigen Tough Armor Pro and Ultra Hybrid Pro state hinge coverage. A hinge cover can stop some MagSafe accessories sitting flush.

Will iPhone 18 Pro cases fit the iPhone Duo?

No. Closed, the iPhone Duo measures 84.1 × 117.8 mm, against 71.9 × 150.0 mm for the iPhone 18 Pro, so the two phones have completely different shapes.

Is the iPhone Duo waterproof?

Apple rates it IP68, to a maximum depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes. That rating covers water and dust, not drops, so a case still matters.

Does Apple make an iPhone Duo case?

Yes. Apple announced the iPhone Duo Case and the iPhone Duo Folio, which has a built-in kickstand. Neither was on sale when we checked on 16 September 2026.

Verdict

If you want a case on day one, order the Spigen Tough Armor Pro (Mag Fit). It is the only case here that is in stock now and states full hinge coverage. The TORRAS Ostand Q3 is the better choice if you plan to prop the Duo up as a small screen. Avoid ordering a case that ships in November unless you have something else to use until then. If you would rather wait for Apple’s own case or OtterBox’s rugged option, both are announced but not yet on sale, and we will update this guide when they are.
