Got the new GoPro Mission 1? Cases that fit
GoPro’s MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 Pro (shipping since May 2026) use a different body from the HERO line, so HERO13 housings and cases don’t fit — the camera keeps GoPro’s mounting fingers, so your mounts and grips carry over, but anything that encloses the camera is model-specific. Here’s what actually fits a MISSION 1 today.
GoPro Protective Housing for MISSION 1 (~$60, verified) — get this for water or impact. GoPro’s own housing (AGDIV-001) takes a MISSION 1 or MISSION 1 Pro to 60 m / 196 ft and adds real impact protection. It ships with a skeleton backdoor for open-air audio and keeps the dual mounting fingers, so it shoots horizontal or vertical. It is MISSION 1-only — it will not fit a HERO. Check price
GoPro Casey (~$47–74) — carry, not protection. The semi-hard Casey swallows a MISSION 1 kit — camera, mounts and cables — for transport. It is weather-resistant only, so treat it as a carry-and-storage case, not a drop-or-dunk one. Same verdict as with the HERO kit: perfectly fine, just not the value champion. Check price
Third-party MISSION 1 cases: still thin. Independent housings and cages for the MISSION 1 are only just appearing. As of July 2026 we have not found a shipping, reviewed unit we would trust a camera to, so the honest call today is GoPro’s own housing for water and a generic carry case for transport. We will add a budget pick here the moment a credible one lands.
Carry & storage
PGYTECH hard-shell (~$17, verified) — best value. EVA shell with a clever slot that lets a selfie stick stay attached, fits most action cams under 88.5 mm. Too small for an X-series with lens guards mounted, but for a bare GoPro or Osmo it’s the carry case to beat. Check price
PGYTECH Carrying Mini (~$12–20) — the cross-brand one. A rare SKU that fits the Osmo Action 6, Pocket 3, HERO13 and Insta360 X5 in one case — handy if you shoot on more than one system. Check price
Smatree hard cases (~$15–40) — most storage per dollar. Sized from single-camera to full-kit, fits GoPro, Osmo and AKASO. Owners nitpick the foam fit, but nothing holds more accessories for the money. Check price
GoPro Casey (~$47–74) — skip unless you want the brand. The official semi-hard carry case is weather-resistant only and expensive per litre. It’s fine; it’s just not the value pick. Check price
Water & impact: dive housings
GoPro Protective Housing (~$50, verified) — the safe choice. Takes a HERO 13–9 to 60 m and adds real impact protection. The touchscreen is unusable inside it (use the buttons), and because it fits five generations it’s a long-life accessory. Check price
FitStill 60M (~$23) — budget alternative. Roughly 90% of the official housing for half the price — with the QC gamble that implies. Leak-test it empty before you trust a camera to it. Check price
Lens protection: the cheapest high-value upgrade
The most common action-cam damage isn’t the body — it’s the lens. Two cheap fixes:
Insta360 X5 Lens Guards (~$25, verified) — near-mandatory. A 360 camera has two exposed lenses and no way to retract them; a scratch ruins the stitch line. The standard guards add slight flare against bright light; the Premium set (~$50) reduces it. Either is cheaper than a re-lens. Check price
DJI Glass Lens Cover for Osmo Action 6 (~$29, verified). The Action 6’s stock cover is already replaceable, so frame this as an upgrade to tougher glass rather than a fix — but at $29 it’s cheap insurance on the part most likely to scratch. Check price

How to choose
- Name the threat first. Transport scuffs → carry case. Water/rocks → housing. Scratches → lens guard. Most people need the $17 carry case and a $25 lens guard, not a $50 housing.
- Lens guards are the best money you’ll spend on a 360 camera — non-negotiable on an X5.
- Leak-test budget housings empty. Every time, before the camera goes in.
- Check current fit. The HERO13 is current (no Hero 14); make sure a “GoPro case” lists your actual generation.
FAQ
Do HERO13 cases fit the Mission 1?
No — the MISSION 1 has a different body from the HERO13, so HERO13 housings and carry cases don’t fit. GoPro sells a MISSION 1-specific Protective Housing (AGDIV-001, about $60). Your mounts and grips still work though — the MISSION 1 keeps GoPro’s mounting fingers; only the enclosing cases are model-specific.
Is the official GoPro case worth it?
The Protective Housing (for water/impact) yes; the Casey carry case, not especially — third-party carry cases protect as well for less.
Do I need a dive housing if my GoPro is already waterproof?
GoPro bodies are waterproof to ~10 m; a housing extends that to ~60 m and adds impact protection. For snorkeling depth you may not need one; for diving or rocky water you do.
What’s the most important accessory for an Insta360 X5?
Lens guards. The dual exposed lenses are the camera’s most vulnerable and most expensive-to-replace part.
Will one case fit my GoPro and my Osmo?
Some cross-brand cases (PGYTECH Carrying Mini, Smatree) do — check the listed models for your exact cameras.
